yes im planning a trip to the philippines to manila on the 20th of this month and my fiancee was telling me lastnight that they will not accept any travelers checks at any of the banks overthere as of right now . can you tell me if this is true cuz it dosent make sence to me cuz travelers checks can be used all around the world that i know of . i know they just had a typhoon but i dont know if that might have something to do with it or not . am i being skeemed please help me with this question .

Yes you can, but an ATM card is much better. Bring a bit of cash currency from your country, and then withdraw pesos when you get here. It is the best exchange rate.

As far as I know, there's no problem, but these days travellers cheques are an outdated form of currency, just bring an atm card and get cash out as you need it, bring a spare one in case you lose it. If you're going outside the main cities then just draw out enough cash to last your trip. If you have a debit card you can go into a bank and draw out any amount you want.
There's no need to travel anywhere with loads of cash or cheques anymore.

As far as i know, there won't be any problem.. but for your convenience, better to bring your ATM card, you can withdraw from any banks.. but when your going to visit the islands, better you withdraw first from the city before going there.. enjoy your trip!
