My neighbor's cat seems to like us better. He's always sleeping on our front porch, meowing at the back door to let him in, and he even runs up and climbs on my lap when I'm outside. He's at our house every morning until it gets dark and then he disappears to the neighbor's house but he's right back on our front porch every morning. I don't think they're feeding him because he eats every bug he comes in contact with but I don't think they're negecting him because he's very clean (doesn't have fleas or anything like that) and seems very healthy. Can I keep him though? He seems to like us more than his real owners.

Lindsey--we don't feed him. I never mentioned that I fed him so where the heck did you get the idea that I did? I don't let him inside either (although he has ran inside when we weren't looking).

This cat has figured out how to have 2 families. I wouldn't do anything like bring him inside and prevent him from going home. It's obvious he likes you during the day, but he sleeps at the other house at night. They probably love him and would be really hurt if he disappeared.

on condition that the cat has no collar and is obviously a stray could you undertake it. If the cat has a collar then you particularly could return the animal to its proprietor as quickly as attainable. A vet can verify if it has an implanted identity chip if there is not any handle on the collar. you're able to never feed or supply a drink to somebody else's cat as you would be luring it removed from its rightful proprietor, it is tantamount to stealing it. by using all means stroke it yet do no longer supply in to its begging. certainly one of my neighbours had a ginger cat which used to roll over every time he observed me - an illustration that he needed me to feed him, yet I took no word. He did this on rather some events until after one greater attempt, while he could have realised that i replaced into intentionally ignoring his request, he leapt up and smacked my hand together with his 2 front paws until now working away. That has been the only time I particularly have ever been chastised by using a cat for no longer feeding it!

i know it would be better for the cat but the righful owners r ur neighbors.u should never keep an animal that u know it has an owner. u can feed it, play with it and other stuff. ask them if they let the cat stay over at ur house one day. maybe the cat likes to play with bugs doesnt mean he/she is hungry. the cat might be dirty because it has different fur, like my cat. the point is if u had a cat would u like someone taking it away from u.

No, you can't just keep the neighbors cat, that would be stealing. If you really want to keep the cat should should A) talk to you parents first, if they say it would be okay, then you should B) go over and talk to you neighbor. They might or might not be okay with this.

Also, cats eat bugs, grass, and strange things off the ground. My cats are always putting stuff in their mouth. I have to watch them like they are three year olds.

No! That's horrible! Cats eat like that for many reasons. Your food may be better then his parent's food. He's probably only coming over for the food, in fact. I bet if you stopped feeding him he wouldn't come over. I can't even believe you are considering that! If you don't want the cat coming around--don't feed him. Can you even imagine what the cat's owners feel like?

If you keep their cat--that's just another way of saying "steal."

I'm sorry I didn't read the question right. I thought you were feeding him. Whether you feed him or not--it's not right to take someones pet. That really is crazy. We had neighbors whose cats would always come over but stealing a cat--heck no! As for your neighbors not caring--they do care. Cats are funny little things--they like to venture out and have a good time. They may like you but they don't need another family! I still can't even believe you'd consider that.

My parents have cats that go out in the neighborhood and if anyone ever said they wanted to keep our cat--there would be hell to pay. It's not that they don't take care of the cats--they are just letting them do what cats do best--go venture out and are friendly. Just imagine if someone wanted to steal your dog or animal. How would you feel if your animal just never came home?

As for me getting a life--you asked the question! I just answered--if you like it or not--I answered with an honest answer. If you don't like honesty--I suggest you find another site--that censors what people write on it so that they all agree with you.

If he doesn't look really skinny (obvious ribs poking out, bony legs, etc.), then he's being fed well enough.
It's not weird, and in fact it's pretty common, for cats to eat bugs! They usually do it just for fun, rather than being hungry.
Especially if he looks clean and healthy, then he probably is being taken care well enough.

It would be wrong to keep him. :) Your neighbours would probably be really sad!

Don't steal someones cat. Many times animals are members of their family. You wouldn't want someone stealing your kid would you?

it depends on his owners, remember that it is their cat and they love him as much as you do, ask them to look after him if they go on holiday or just ask, then ask if you could maybe keep him if it is alright with them you'll have a new cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!
