I am in my twenties. Well until some months back i wold get menstrual cramps only once in 3-4 months but now every month, on the first day of my period i get very bad cramps. From the time i started my periods till some months back i have never experienced this kind of regular pain. Other aspects of menstruation are normal except the pain part. What could be the reason. Don't think it's an infection as i fell ok rest of the time.

I would tell your ob/gyn. They can check for certain things and prescribe you meds to help ease the pain. It COULD be a problem. Good Luck

I can only sight mine as some possible clarification.

At 13 when I began my periods, I already had endometriosis beginning. It became worse and worse through the years.

Endometriosis is when you bleed out into the abdominal cavity this causes tremendous pain.
Through high school I was stupefied on Demerol each month.

After two corrective surgeries and 3 d and C's to attempt to correct the problem I had a complete hysterectomy at 37. One of the additional problems was cysts on the ovaries.

So the upshot of this is, Your body will change with age. Get to your OB Gyn to be evaluated.

Good Luck, I hope It's not serious.

I also have pain when the period comes...I keep drinking warm drinks and i put a bottle of warm water on my stomach...it eases the pain alot. I don't think it's an infection...the pain comes because the the uterus sheds the lining it built ( which was built to be ready for a baby if your egg is fertilized)... I guess this shedding of the lining of the uterus causes these cramps you feel. I don't think it's something serious...however...if u feel it's serious u should consult a doctor.

this sounds like simple dysmenorrhea, or painful periods. many women's cycles change character over their lifetime-this is not unusual. it does not sound like an infection as it is limited to your cycle. the best treatment would be birth control pills, ask your doctor about them. they will also check you to be sure it is nothing more serious.

Go to your GP and get this checked out asap, he may suggest appointment with specialist, and i'm not being funny but this could be anything from change of cycle and hormones, to polycistic ovaries and god forbit chlamydia. Please get checked out.
