For me 2 Motrins of 200 mg each works well. But if your pain is very bad, you may need an M.D. to prescribe you a muscle relaxant.

Different medicines work for different women.......
I get bad cramps too, I wouldn't be able to get out of bed if it wasn't for my pills! I take 3 IBuProfens or Advils. I was on a prescription called Naproxen, it worked wonders, so you might ask your doc about it! When my insurance ran out, and my pills, I was told by my OBGYN that 3 IBuProfens is equal to 1 prescription strength IBuProfen!

Hopefully this helps a bit! I feel your pain! Good Luck!

In my 20's I used to get severe cramps for years. I finally saw my doctor and he prescribed Anaprox. The Anaprox worked great, as long as I took it as soon as the pain began. If I waited it didn't work as well.

I just looked up Anaprox on the web and I see that it is now what is called Aleve.

the absolute best medicine to take in order to have the least disruptive periods is the birth control pills. this is the treatment of choice for painful periods. talk to your doctor about going on the pill. however, i assume you need help today so go for the ibuprofen or midol but not tylenol. tylenol does not target the source of this pain nearly as well as the non-steroidal antiinflammatories. generic ibuprofen 600 mg every 8 hrs should help. heating pad is also helpful

If you aren't allergic to aspirin, take Naprosin, Naproxen Sodium.

Or, I've heard that a little weed will help. I know if I was a woman and I was back in the 70's, I wouldn't have suffered.

take a warm bath and lay with a hot water bottle. taking aspirin or ibuprofen can make period bleeds worse and paracetamol rarely work ( 4 me they don't). take up Pilate's, the breathing exercises and some of the positions can be very beneficial and eliminate cramps altogether

For me,the best thing for my cramps is good old aspirin.Since it is a blood thinner I find it tends to break up the clots. It doesn tend to make it appear that there is more blood, but seems to make it flow smoother.Just remember that it can also cause stomach irritation if you are prone to that.
