I think Arithmophobics should approach using the telephone by making up words that correspond to the numbers (sorry) that are on the buttons. You could always have a friend white out the numbers. It's a little time consuming but it would be an amusing ice breaker with new friends and a great party game in general. You could always enlist a friend that likes anagrams and puzzles to help.

Actually I saw this number on the bathroom wall. I am sure she could help you get over ANY phobia!

Sure, buddy.
On your phone, it's:
Top row left button, second-from-bottom row middle button, bottom row middle button, bottom row middle button, I-HATE-NUMBERS.
Then, let's see if I can remember this...
Press top left button for a Mild case, top row middle button for a Moderate case, and top row right button for Severe - yep, that's you.
(Ignore those funny symbols on the keypad, it's just decoration, trust me. Failing which, use a blindfold.)

Your question just does not add up. Please have a seat and take a number, but do it while you are in your prime.
