When you have gestational diabetes the baby receives more sugar than normal pregnancies and can grow very quickly. They are big, but I don't know if I would use the term overweight. I would definately discuss these issues at length with your doctor.

Yes baby can still be large for dates. However there are so many factors involved and many moms are scared out of vaginal births, have early inductions or c-sections because of the fear. A better indicator is whether or not you have managed your Gestational Diabetes well. Was it detected early? Do you eat well and maintain good blood sugar levels? Are you overweight? Do you exercise daily? Those things can significantly reduce the risks to women with gestational diabetes. I have seen many GD babies born at a normal weight. Get an ultrasound before anything invasive is done to see how big baby truly is.

The baby can be a little overweight, the stats show that about 3 to 8 percent of pregnant women in the United States develop gestational diabetes.

Yes because people with those conditions tend to have large babies, regardless of their stomach size before birth.
