ouch.you're killing me. why does everyone insist on calling it a HOT water heater? if you can't just call it a water heater, then try calling it a cold water heater, cause that's more accurate.

anybody got an aspirin?

There are repairs you can do to one, but you need to be more specific. You can replace elements in electric ones. A thermocouple in gas. If it leaks get a new one. They are not that expensive.

Whats wrong?
Leaking - replace it

Not heating - is it gas or electric

Not enough hot water - see above or check dip tube

Is it making noise - clean out lime build up

BREAK DOWN ,AND GO BUY ANOTHER ONE! IT'S MORE EXPENSIVE TO FIX ONE ,THAN IT IS TO BUY ONE. IF YOU DECIDE TO BUY ONE,AND AFTER IT IS INSTALLED,YOU NEED TO CHECK ALL OF THE SCREENS IN YOUR FAUCETS,WHY? BECAUSE THE NEW WATER HEATER IS PUSHING WATER FASTER THROUGH YOUR PIPES ,AND WHATEVER BUILD-UP THAT WAS IN YOUR PIPES IS NOW IN /ON YOUR SCREENS. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Please ask the question again, and include:

Gas or electric?

What are the symptoms which you feel need correcting?

Could require mere adjustment of the thermostat, or (if electric) replacement of an element.
