Because the DNC does not want their platform defined by the RNC.
Republicans are running on Illegal Immigration because they believe it is a hot button issue. However, they have been in power for the last 6 years and only started discussing illegal immigration a few months ago. The problem is no worse than it was before... they just needed something to distract everyone from Iraq and all of the Republican scandals. It is clearly a last ditch effort not to lose power.
The truth is that the best method to stop illegal immigration is to enforce the laws already in place and punish businesses and individuals who hire illegals. However, politicians (from both parties) won't do this because those businesses give campaign contributions.

Because it is not as big of an issue as the republicans say it is. All the republicans are doing is trying to piss people off, and seperate them. Divide and conquer. Make them hate illegals more than the ****** up job the republicans have done. Pandering to complete and utter morons. Thats how you win elections. Yeah baby
