I'm a people watcher and take note of little things,I use to work in retail and would see woman buy 2 shades lighter foundation and I'll say-you actually need this color and they would say- Ohhh no chile I'm not that dark, and in actaully I match their skin color perfectly,or I'll have light skin woman saying I want a bronzer so I can look Brazilian-I was astonished, couldn't believe how unhappy folks are in the skin God gave them,so I just thought I would pose this question to the world. Thanks for your feedback.

I do not have a complex. I happen to be light skinned with green eyes and curly hair. I have never wanted to be anything I am not. A waste of time to be that way and unless you bleach or tan your skin (both of which is REALLY unhealthy) there's no point in stressing over it. By the way, School Daze did not start the whole AKA/DST and which sorority you pledge based on skin tone. Spike Lee just brought to light what had been the case for many years prior. The movie came out in 1988 when I started high school and colorism among sororities was out FAR before that, actually at the time these black sororities were organized, which was the early 1900's. I was pursued by AKAs at my college and they showed interest in me specifically because of how I look (the whole chapter was light skinned and would not admit anyone that was not light skinned) and that was a REEEEAL turnoff! This was in the south, where I found colorism to be a lot more prevalent than in the north (I'm from Philly). I was treated the worst in the south by either black women saying that I thought I was "too good" or guys only liking me because of my complexion, eye color, and hair texture. So I think a lot of people still have these complexes, but I personally do not.

Actually, I fall in between. My skins the color of coffee with a good splash of cream.

My daughter is what is called "High Yellow" just like her dad. The same skin coloring as Joan on Girlfriends. I was going through that Light skinned man phase ( still lust after Shamar Moore). But now give me a dark skinned brothers with definite Motherland features and I'm in love. (More like DMX and not Flavor Flav, thank you!!!)

I am a brown skinned sister. I don't have a complex with light or dark skin sisters. The darker the flesh the deeper the root.
