My sister is due Oct 23rd. (her Dr doesnt think she'll make it that long?) She has already dropped, lost her mucus plug and the baby only moves a couple times a day. She has also been very tired the past two days. (way more than usual) I think she may be showing signs of getting ready for labor. What do you think?

It varies from baby to baby. At 36 weeks, the doctor said there was no way I was making it to the next week, let alone term. I'd lost my mucus plug, was 3+cm dilated, 100% effaced, and baby was at +1 station. She wanted to induce to make sure I made it to the hospital on time (I think she was a little melodramatic).
Baby made her debut at 41 weeks, 1 day, no induction.
However, I think I was an anomaly. Your sister sounds close, but I wouldn't tell her to absolutely plan on the baby showing up tomorrow. Tell her to enjoy her last few hours/days/weeks of non-parenting; go to a movie or a nice restaurant. It might be awhile before she does that again, and it might take her mind of the anticipation/impatience for a bit.

I was due may 8 2005. Around April 15 or so, I dropped. About a week later I lost my mucus plug. I dialiated to a 3.

May 8 came and went. I was eating spicy foods, having sex like crazy, walking about a mile a day. And still nothing.

My baby was born May 19. I was in labor for 23 hours.

So who knows what makes a woman go into labor. Or when it happens. Good luck

I think that you could be right. While it is possible to exhibit these signs and still go 3-4 more weeks, most likely she will go in the next week or so. It is extremely hard to tell however since women with a high posterior cervix and no symptoms have had babies in hours and others have every symptom in the book but go another month. My dear friend walked around at 4 cms for 3 weeks!
However, her body is definitely preparing and I would highly doubt she has much longer. Tell her to relax so that her mind can shut down and the oxytocin can naturally get flowing.

There's plenty to keep in mind first is she quite pregnant is her stomach bigger, are her nipples gettig larger and are they generating milk. If the reply is sure to those extra then most probably she is pregnant. In which case she could also be getting in a position to enter labour quickly a couple of indicators might be: she is nesting this means that she continually digs and trys to bunch up her blankets right into a pile, she will also be stressed and are not able to get relaxed so she is continually relocating round, she may also pant and be very thirsty, yet another method you'll be able to inform is take her temperature if its round ninety eight-ninety nine levels she's going to mainly be having them quickly, one final signal is rather like a human her water will holiday and he or she may have dogs very quickly after. Hope this helped :)

if she already lost the mucus plug, then she is within days of going into labor

mothers getting ready to deliver usually go into what is called a nesting period...Sleeping all the time. It is normal, but she could be like this up until her due date. It all depends when the baby is ready... CONGRATS TO YOUR SISTER!
