just because i'm a alternative indie rocker, electro-techno type doesn't mean other i'm not suppose to like other music that i'm not into like hip-hop, jazz, country, blues, different world music, and classical and i do love soul music, that's why i named myself after. i love different cultures beside the one i'm into.
same thing to you, too! whatever style you're into learn to admire and like other ones, too

I'm Black and love all kinds of music, but people look at me funny when I purchase some of the old Hard Rock, like Ozzy and Ac-DC. I also love Sting, Duran Duran, Journey, Fleetwood Mac and Bonnie Raitt.
My sister asks me" Exactly how White can you get?" But that's just me. Growing up in the 80's all the other girls had posters of New Edition, Prince and Michael Jackson on their wall, while I had Billy Idol and Rick Springfield. You like who you like and nobody can change that.

I hear what you're saying... I've been into everything from The Cure and Siouxsie to LeAnn Rimes and Kenny Chesney to Marilyn Manson and Tom Petty and U2... Plus, other alternative groups such as Echo & The Bunnymen and Hole... Hey! Other than Rap (except for Eminem)- Whatever 'floats your boat' is cool with me!!! Hard Rock Cafe says "Love All Serve All" or atleast something of the like... Check-out The Gufs! They're a really great band from Milwaukee/Chicago area. "Smile" and "Crash (Into Me)" and "Lost Along The Way" are really my faves... Well that's almost what i believe too. I m a fan/in love/i have passion with Yngwie Malmsteen. As being a guitarist too, and only 18 yrs old i admire him and his music so much..!I love this guy's music and guitar style!!! He belongs to the neoclassical metal which actually is my favourite genre. I also like that much Children of Bodom(black/neoclassical/melodic metal), Van Halen(hair/80's/glam/speed metal), Iron Maiden(british metal) and heavy metal generally...!!!! These are the genres i m listening in my home, but i m a rocker too. Led Zepp, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Dire Straits, Queen, Scorpions etc. So until now you ll have undrestood that i m a stuck metalhead. Well no!
I also listen to the classicals, with Vivaldi and Paganini being my favourite. And surprisingly i believe it s the best kind of music ever created..But i have friends, many, that like other genres and they made me to like them too. When going to clubs i want to listen to club, trance songs(Pakito, Electro), but latin too(la camisa negra, baila morena), and even r n b, and a bit hip-hop....
Despite my love for heavy metal, i dont have a metal outfit(long hair, black clothes etc)... So us you see i m a bit like you... That s the point of music...The only thing i regret is tht one time i was so stuck with rock that i critisized others who liked other genres and that's something i feel embarassing about...!!!

I think you're allowed to love any type of style of music or fashion you please. You're ethnicity shouldn't be a factor. It's nice that you want to explore other things. I wish more people would do the same. There would less ignorance in the world.

AWESOME THOUGHT even i think in that way.....
I do enjoy music in many forms ....basically i love Classic Rock...Led Zep...Pink FLoyd...lynyrd skynyrd ...Aerosmith....and all...i love 80s and 90s rock too hair metal grunge punk ...like Def leppard ...Metallica..Iron maiden...GnR and list goes on and on...
Blues are awesome like Eric Clapton BB King and all...
Apart from that u will be surprised to know i Love Pop musicians Michael Jackson...Madonna ....Steve Wonder...Barbara Striesand....George Michael....Funk like PRINCE...Disco music like that of Bee Gees ...Donna Summers....and recenlty i started listening to Contemporary RnB, and lil Hip Hop....
And to top it all i think CLASSICAL MUSIC is one of the passionate form of classy music........

I agree. I like many types of music--i don't like when people tie their identity up in some form of music that they like, it makes them seem so...flat.

i agree! just because i LOVE acoustic guitar and the hotel cafe doesn't mean i don't appreciate old school hip hop and coltrane!
