Not that I've ever used it, but I might have in the future. They are making a mistake, and they will see come Christmastime. They are going to lose money BIG TIME!

Walmart sucks anyway! Go to Target!!

You are right it's a silly idea they are going to lose lots of business.During Christmas in my city the layaway lines be so full you would be in line for like 5 hours.

My mom abused the Wal-Mart layaway. She really did. She would put stuff on layaway, because she still got the fun of shopping, but she knew she couldn't afford most of the stuff anyway. So then she would just cancel her layaway a week later. I wonder if a lot of people did this, and that was one of the reasons why they are going to stop? They say people use credit cards these days, and the need for layaway isn't like it used to be. My local Target doesn't have layaway either though.

my feelings are that a class action lawsuit could be started against all the retail chains for doing away with layaway- due to economic level of their customers as a form of discrimination- what do you think?

Maybe they had a lot of merchandise tied up with people who forgot, or didn't want to pay. Then, they has some money that they would have to give back & no way to find the people who forgot, & merchandise they were storing for free...

yep, they want the money right now........but its going to backfire on them, they will just lose that extra money they would have made from the layaways.....
