The following are direct quotes between Paul Weyrich, Chairman and CEO of the Free Congress Foundation and a reporter on NPR. It was recorded yesterday, and I was so angry, I had to pull the car over! Go to this website to hear the interview for yourself:

“Here is the real problem. It has been known, for many years that Congressman Foley, was a homosexual. Homosexuals tend to be preoccupied with sex…”

“Now before we go on, I think I can say Mr. Weyrich, that there are quite a few people who would take exception to the statement that homosexuals are preoccupied with sex.”

“Well, I don’t care whether they take exception to it, it happens to be true.”

“That is your opinion?”

“Well, it’s not my opinion, it’s the opinion of many psychologist and psychiatrists who have to deal with them.”

In response to Thomasrob;
I am NOT excusing Foley's actions, they are disgusting, but there is a difference between homosexual and pediophile. The issue I take is with Weyrich's statement, Foley doesn't even enter the conversation for me.

I've got a handheld drink mixer ready to give to him, with a note telling him to f*** himself with it.

If anyone's preoccupied with gay sex, it's phobes like Weyrich!

Just because one imbecile has the guts to get on public radio, and state his opinion on homosexuality, does no mean that we have to accept the statement as fact. He apparently has homophobia. We must take note that he could NOT prove this statement to be fact. Yes Psychologists, Psychiatrists have done studies to identify the cause of, and "genetic/psycho" tendencies of homosexuals, but have these studies been a success? Apparently not. We still have yet to find the "gay" gene, or identify the personae of the homosexual's character. To close, Mr. Weyrich stated that to hand Folley the" position of Charmian of committee is ....outrageous." Someone needs to teach this man [Paul Weyrich] the difference between fact and opinion, and that mixing to two inappropriately causes loss of support, as a politician

i don't believe homo's are any more preoccupied with sex than hets. take two 18 y/o guys one str8 one gay. sex is all either think about. even through adulthood. it's evolution and darwinism. humans think about sex so that the race will continue. everything we do is in some form to attract a mate. whether by being sexy or wealthy or intelligent. anyway being gay has nothing to do with liking little boys. thats just a pervert.

The only thing to complain about is that it was a bad context, and the wording could have been better. The point itself really is too close to truth to throw a tantrum about. Cleopatra much?

WHO are you people kidding?! I've been gay for well over 30 years. It is without question that [generally speaking] gay people are preoccupied with sex. What little fantasy world do you live in?! Stop lying to yourselves. Craig!! :o)

Come on Geri D., the preoccupation issue may not refer to you personally, but from my experiences there is such a thing. So do young heterosexual men and women, but usually by the time they are 40, they have settled down. This does not seem to be the case with homosexuals.
Finally, I believe that the statement given was made in good faith, in an honest belief and fair. Please do not try to deflect any blame from the paedophile and put it on the speaker...............
