I feel that they are celebrating their religious freedom, just as Pagans who celebrate Yule instead of Christmas are, or Jewish people who celebrate Chanukah, or Muslims who observe Ramadan or Atheists who just go shopping. ;)
Nobody has to celebrate any holiday they feel uncomfortable with, including the fourth of July or Veteran's Day.

I was raised in a religion that doesn't celebrate ANY holidays. I think if you are an adult and you have made that choice for yourself not to celebrate anything, fine do what ever you want. Just don't shove it down your kids throat and tell them that they cant have any Holidays, that they have to go to school and be ridiculed daily and made fun of, and they don't even know why they cant celebrate..When asked why you dont celebrate all you can think of saying is....." My Mom says that I cant" Nice...try doing that all your childhood, As a child I could never understand, especially holidays like Mothers day, Fathers Day, Birthdays....I did the research. No where in the Bible does God condemn these things. They are added into this religion to prove to the "World" how different they are. Just like the scribes that would wear the Hem on their robes much longer than they needed just to prove the extent of their faith. They also added over 600 additional laws for the Hebrews to follow, making it almost impossible to be "Holy or approved by God" according to them. So, people that don't celebrate...good for you. if that makes you feel that this over the top expression of faith will save you..do what ever makes you feel good. Just remember if you force this down your children's throat, they may just regurgitate the spiritual food that you force feed them.

It kills me to hear these people talk about not celebrating Halloween because it is pagan. Most of them probably celebrate Christmas which was pagan a long time before it was deemed a Christian holiday. The same goes for Easters roots also.

Well I don't care about others' personal preferences, unless they try to force their beliefs on me.
I wonder though, if they're boycotting Halloween, do they also boycott Easter, Christmas and other holidays that aren't necessairly thought of as being pagan but are. (Easter = Ostara. Rabbits, eggs and the like are used to celebrate the rebirth of spring and fertility) (Christmas = Yule. Yule Log, Evergreen Tree, Santa [Holly King], and others relate to this holiday as well].
It seems strange to me that those that boycott Halloween because of its pagan roots but there are quite a few other "Christian" holidays that are rooted in pagan tradition.
Heck, even traditional set up of the altar in Christian churches mirror Pagan Altars. Even down to the sharing of bread and wine. And the story of Jesus is mirrored in an even older tale of an egyptian god, whoose story was around many many years before Christ's story.
But if they choose to believe that Christianity is unique and is the true way, well that's their right to believe. It's just not for me.

There's no reason why they can't honestly enjoy Halloween, or even Christmas for that matter. The Christmas tree has pagan roots, so they best ditch the evergreen if they're gonna get choosy. Same for Easter eggs!

Wow! your missing all the fun! (BTW you celebrate many pagan holidays without even knowing it. They were entrenched in Christianity when Constantine wanted to mesh the religion to fit the populace.)

The catholic faith develop into the 1st actual faith. It accompanied a great form of pagan traditions and fake doctrines to earnings extra contributors, to collect extra money. To on the instant time, some to decide for to hold directly to those traditions for "exciting" and their own own entertainment. whether, actual Christians desire to stick to God as heavily and accurately as achieveable, and that does no longer incorporate Pagan holiday journeys or fake Doctrines.

I think it is great. I love Samhain (Halloween). It is a luminous time when the finite and the infinite touch. It is a magical time filled with old ghosts and new spirit. I wish everyone could enjoy it and learn from it.

I have no idea what Halloween stems from, you say pagan so I'll say your right. I am a Christian, I love Halloween it's fun and it creates for great memories from childhood. We do it in our house for fun, and many of my Christian friends disagree with that, oh well you can' please everyone, I don't celebrate it
