Im going to a dinner conference and the Crown Prince of Iran is the keynote speaker. I need to look dressed up but not to dressed, if that makes sense. I have great black velvet pants that I would really like to wear but I feel like everything that I would normally wear with them is to much. Help!

I would advise you against wearing pants and go for a long skirt and long sleeved blouse. This is to show respect for the cultural norms of the people. Some people might wear trouser suits with a jacket a little bit longer in length but not tight fitting.

A nice trendy white cotton shirt. They hae some cute wrap around white shirts that are out now. You can always wear black as well and some nice jewelry. Have fun.

Since you must suit your attire to the occasion and your guest of honor, please consider wearing a knee or mid-calf length cocktail dress. Ideally, it should NOT be revealing, more on the conservative side and of a suitable color like black or midnight blue. Accessories should include a scarf that you can instantly whip into a demure head wear, should this be required, in deference to the rest of your party.

agree, I prefer wear nice silk top, wear some outstanding jewelery if you think your outfit is not too outstanding, but don't wear too colorful stuff, make it simple but elegant.
