I love make-up and i am really good at it[[so ive been told]], and it makes me feel so bad when people tell me negative things about going to school for that instead of an actual College.
maybe latr on in my life ill try something lyke that, but for right now i think not!

Wow, it sounds like some really ignorant and insensitive people have hurt your feelings. I'm so sorry that they're not supporting you and your obvious talents as a make-up artist. Your real friends will encourage you to follow your dreams and even let you practice your make-up skills on them! College is NOT for everyone.
So go make America beautiful, we believe in you!

well i will tell you this. everyone you see on television (celebrities, newscasters, actors, singers) and even on broadway shows and plays and musicals has had make up put on for their character or for the camera. The makeup artists who do that job make nice money. If youre really good at it, aspire to get a career like that.
There is nothing wrong with it at all. Those who think negatively of you just have not grasped the concept of a demand for makeup artists. They see it as an easy way out when you can actually make a big name for yourself if you wanted to.

Another thing you could do is go to make up school, then get some sort of business degree and start your own business.

what's wrong with that? absolutely nothing.

p.s. there are even make up artists that work on making dead people look nice for their funerals. Thats some nice money too. lol.

I can't express in print how well adjusted that attitude is. If you figure that you can land a job in your field that you will find fulfilling, then by all means, get a useful education. If there is a big "actual College" in your area, see if you can audit a couple of classes for free just to see what your missing. They should let you... you just show up and sit in the back... College is nothing special. If you want an education then read Wikipedia or something.

The most important thing is what u want to do, not what other people want u to do. If u love, pursue it! Plus, if u do well, a job as a make-up artist can be really rewarding ^^. Think about all those celebrity make-up artists who get paid a lot or write books on make-up. Hey, later, those same people might be begging u to do their make-up =P. Anyways, good luck =)

If you love doing make-up don't let anyone try to change your mind. I'm going through a similar situation. My family is raggin on me for going to Southern University instead of the University of New Orleans. They feel I'm limiting myself by attending a Black University. U have to live your life for you and not anybody else. If you live your life worrying about others you'll lead a miserable life. If you love make-up, stick with it. Maybe one day you'll be doing Beyonce or Madonna's make-up. Go For it!! God Bless!!!!

You will find a lot of dream busters in your life. We all have different abilities and strenghts. And most important you must work on what you are passionate about. Dont listen to what other people say. most kids after highschool dont have aclue what they are going to do after graduation so they just choose any career. I have friends who have changed majors like three times.

After I graduated I decided to career in fashion, and its a lot of hard work, but many of my friends thought it was pice of cake. It pissed me of. But Im doing great because I love what I do. And they are stuck with miserable careers just because they think they will make money eventually.

Keep doing what you love, and you will do great.

You should do want you want to and not care what other people say. If it is something you can see yourself doing in the long-term then that is great. How many people go to work and say they like their jobs? If you listen to them and do something different and are miserable you would always wonder what it would of been like.

Some people like to rain on your parade, no matter what it is you plan to do. Go with what you want to do and you will never regret it, even if you change your mind later. Any experience is good and you can learn a lot from it.
