Is the world at a good place right now??

Well I wouldn't go that far, but there are good things happening all over, which people don't pay nearly enough attention to.

There are more people who put more effort into helping others than ever before. And more people fighting for the well-being of the environment that ever before.

There are more educated people, and children who are getting an education. Humanity as a whole knows much more about who we are and about human good and harm than ever.

More people are more tolerant of all of the various ways of being human and living a human life than ever. (The ideas of freedom of religion, tolerance for other ethnicities, for sexual orientation, equality of women, rights of children, to name the ones that spring to mind are all more accepted now than ever.)

Yes, there are more people, but what I meant above is, a greater proportion of people doing all these good things.

Here's a bit of news (well, more than a year old, but it impresses the poopy out of me) that I feel wasn't given sufficient attention.

As horrific as the tsunami was Christmas of last year, many in the disaster relief field were expecting a "second wave" of casualties due to diseases from all of the water being contaminated.

They were predicting the death toll would DOUBLE from this.

But water purification materials were disseminated, as were the instructions for using them, and the second wave never happened (at least, not on anything like the scale feared).

That's a lot of suffering and a lot of deaths prevented because there were funds, and enough people who knew what to do and did it.

There is a greater sense than ever before that we are all humans first, and all the other things we are are less important than that.

I certainly make the arena a happier situation. I donate, support others, sponsor children, and so on. But this can be a first-class thought. You and your pal are effective! Keep up the first-class paintings, and confidently you`ll encourage different men and women to do the equal!
