I want to be able to force myself to do things I need to do, even when my motivation is not very high.

Advice? Books you'd recommend, etc?

Make a list. List the things that you need to do and give yourself a deadline for each. Start small and show yourself that you can accomplish everything on the list in the timeframe you have written down. Soon it will become easier to add more and more things to the list. You will find a sense of pride in crossing off each task that you have completed. Soon it will become second nature and you will find that you are motivated and disciplined, the way you want to be.

i agree with nido. make a list. but start off with small goals. don't forget to prioritize. put the most important things on the top and if something needs to be done but isn't as important save it for the next day (just dont keep moving it!). don't try to cram everything into an impossible amount of time. learn time management.
