My teacher is afraid technology is taking over his life. He wants to be amish now. what should he do ?

Whatever he wants to do. Fasting for a while helps one choose foods more wisely when one slowly returns to eating.
Maybe he needs to give it all up for a while... then decide if he wants to come back to some or all of it, or stay away permanently. Unlike fasting, he can make that choice and live a very nice long life.
