Only an asshole without a brain would let someone beat the crap out of him just to join an organization. What kind of idiot sits there endures a beating and then complain about after they've been initiated into the organization they got their *** kicked to join.

Well, depending on the person's mental state or lack thereof it may not be as easy as it would seem. Peer presure exist and some people do not posess the mental faculties to deal with it well. Some have came out of very protective homes, and this is there first real adventure away from home. It is always easier to convince someone to so something after a few beers and a joint, or some other type of college party favor.

Being a fraternity brother. I love to see the opinions of people that don't know what actually goes on during pledging meetings assume the worst and what hollywood shows them.

People I am on the inter-fraternity counsil at my college and I know the processes for every house and the "hazing" at the house is non-exsistent.

Being on a sports team as well I know for a fact varsity sport hazing is much much worse than any greek house

I was in a sorority that was completely against hazing. In fact, we found out that one of our members tried to start some stuff on her own and we kick her out. There is no reason for hazing period. Why would you want to hang out with people who did that, how you could be friends after someone is mean and degrading to you is beyond me? I suggest knowing what you are getting into before you join any group.

Everyone knows that despite the "rules" that hazing is still alive & well. Personally, I think you should know what you get into. But, wouldn't the rewards far outweigh the hazing?

Because these people have low self esteem! They want to be a part of something. It's like a gang. They're looking for love. You know what I hate fraternities and their Alma Kappa Lama stuff anyway. Where did all that crap come from anyway? I thought you were supposed to go to school and learn, get your degree and take your a** and get a good job! They need to do away with all fraternities, whether they're for whomever. Get rid of all of them.

Frats and Sorrorities are basically synonyms for buying friends.
Those who are gullible enough to join are sad, sad people.
Hazing just proves how gullible people are because first of all they're stupid enough to join, and second of all, they're stupid enough to be hazed.

Some people are so desparate for approval of others that they subject themselves to unbelievable things. They are not strong people.
