For the most part it's dead....the punk attitude anyway! There are a few good punk bands around still but crap bands like Green day, Simple Plan, etc, ruined it! I see you left out The Damned...shame on you...they're still around! Bands like The Damned, The Ramones, The Buzzcocks (who are also still around too!), the Pistols, Clash, etc were real punk not the corporate power pop of today...it's a bloody crying shame it is!!!

Punk as a musical style is just sloppy metal so its no big deal but its real vitality is as an attitude. Basically its I don't give a **** what you think, I'm gonna think for myself. There's those who live by those words and those who wannabe.

I like most of the bands you mentioned. I also like the Offspring as a newer band. Keep playing your Black Flag and your Cramps and they won't die. Or as Roger Waters says get out your pistols get out your stones get out your knives cut them to the bone they are the lackeys of the grocer's machine...

No, it's still around, just morph'd into metal, rock or other areas.
I'm sure there's local punk bands around but not so much on the charts anymore.

I also think of the Rolling Stones when I think of punk - One of the original punk bands.

judging by the radio, punk is dead and buried, but punk is about being anti authority and underground. there are a few good bands in my area, but you'll probably never hear of them unless you visit Louisville, KY any time soon. check you're local scene, underground clubs and smaller venues. real punk never sells out, which makes them hard to find, and worth the effort of searching.

To find "real" punk these days, you have to go the same places where you used to have to go to see those guys: clubs. They're out there, man. Keep the faith.

Green Day killed it. The movement started in the late 60's and well into the 70's with the trend of Hippie bubblegum crap and the strict government in the U.K.. We are in need of rebellion in the U.S. and I welcome the day we all rebel against teachers sending medication recommendations to parents from school and safety everywhere and the continuation of the crap baby reality shows! Let music welcome us to that day!
