I think they're both the real you. But you have to decide, do you want to be the clean cut, guy, or the drunk sailor guy? You might also want to ask yourself if it was just the company you were around that caused you to drink, etc so much, or was/is there a real problem.
Yes, I think everyone puts on a facade, or acts differently depending on who they're around.
I think in some cases it is possible to combine different aspects of self, however, I can't possibly imagine a successful combination of a cursing, drunk, gigolo and a clean cut kindergarten teacher. The result: some truly messed up 1st graders.

You're a little bit of everything all rolled into one! But seriously, there's a time and a place for everything. Some things that would be appropriate or acceptable in one setting would not be in another setting.
For example, it's perfectly acceptable to pee in the bathroom, it is not acceptable to pee in the middle of the livingroom floor. The act of urinating, in and of itself, does not make you a bad person. Where you pee, however, could make a difference in the perception of what type of person you are.
So you see, the trick is to know what is and is not acceptable in whatever situation or place you may be in.

lol We are both, two sides to the same card. Try to find a balance between the two and there lies your true self. It is the same battle of good and evil within ourselves as we see in nature and in the world and the heavens.

Everyone has the capabilities to be both...Sinner & Saint...depends on your surroundings and what is socially acceptable. We are at the same time both struggling sinners AND Saints...Which life did you feel more comfortable with?....MODERATION is the key....You can be both just with moderation and good judgment....

It's protective coloration, or camouflage. Neither is the "real you".
How you act at home is a lot closer to who you really are.

We are all sinners, but can get a NEW nature from the Lord Jesus Christ!
Romans 6: 1-14 (KJV)
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
