My wife and I are going to a halloween party where we need to dress up like a superhero, one that we make up. Any ideas?

You should make something super out of something that is mundane. Some examples:
Plunger Man
Captain Peanut Butter Sandwich
The Bug Smasher
Laundry Man
I'm going as a Professional Microsoft Minesweeper

Tampon Man and Panty Liner Girl...Kinda sick, but funny as hell. The hubby and I won $500 for this one. For Tampon Man, dress all in while, paint your face white, get a red wig, hang a piece of green yarn from the back of your pants. For Panty Liner Girl, black outfit or leotard, box of panty liners, stick the panty liners all over the outfit.

Raisin man and raisin woman
get two black hefty bags. (large).
cut holes like you would on a sheet to be a ghost.
get funny coloured stockings, like red and white horzontal stripes.
get 4 pair,
wear a pair and cut a pair for your arms.
get some funky shades and wear them too.
put a plastic coat hangar on your head so the bags kind of poof out.
wear VERY large funny looking tennis shoes or rent some clown shoes.
you'll kind of look like the raisins from the california raisin commercials too.
your super ability?
turning normal people into blithering idiots when they stomp on 2000 of your kind and ferment it, and drink it. (wine)

go as a mummy. Just take loo paper and roll it around you. Great fun, cheap and absolute gas.
Stay away from flames though, and don´t smoke.
