I am considering taking a job at a busy Italian restauarant as a hostess. I need to know roughly what they make before I make a decision. Any experienced people out there?

Answers above are all good. Still you may find the stats below from Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor to be of help in making up your mind:

...

Median hourly earnings of hosts and hostesses were $7.52 in May 2004. The middle 50 percent earned between $6.48 and $8.63. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $5.77, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $10.49 an hour. Wages comprised the majority of their earnings. In some cases, wages were supplemented by proceeds from tip pools.

This and other related information is available at http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos162.htm which I'm sure you will find very helpful while making that decision.

Im in Florida and it varies. I hosted a while back. Im guessing youd make about $8/hour. Maybe minimum if you accept tips from the servers, but some hostesses dont get tipped out.

all restuarants pay dif, but prob not much more then min wage. if they are offering you a job they should have told you how much they pay! it's a good way to get into waitressing though, if you are not old enough or have no experience because there you can make a lot.

When I did it about 10 years ago, I made minmum wage and a percentage of the waitstaff's tips.

they would tell you at the time of interview. Or ask. Hostess is a job that requires little to no experience/education. So, expect little to no pay!!
