Because they never forget, they got whipped by FDR, burned by McCarthy, and Raped by Nixon. they have been trying to make up for these ever since. The closest they ever came was a failed attempt to impeach Clinton.

Its a big, fat, lumbering beast that doesnt stop for any reason or mercy, and cant listen or hear a thing once it gets into a paranoid rage. Instead charges through every thing, leaving nothing but misery and destruction in its wake, for the rest of us to clean up.
As for the democrats, representing a universal (broken) promise of 40 acres of land and a mule to all freed slaves? Just guessing.
