The computer controls engine rpm by adjusting the idle control valve.. Is it the correct valve, is it sealing or is there a vacuum leak. You might have to disconnect the battery to reset the engine controller..

You need to adjust the mounting position of the valve to bring the idle back down to 600-800 rpm range.

The valve needs adjusting to lower the rpm's to around 650.

If it does it all of the time i do no longer understand what it rather is. If it does it in basic terms the various time, spontaneously attempt changing the HAL outcomes sensor on the distributor. I had an in the previous ford that performed up for 6 months, I replaced this and that and it appeared again and bypass, it became utilising me insane. Then an motor vehicle electrician fixed it in a hour. He suggested all fords do this's going to rather. properly worth a attempt.
