I was at a GENERAL ADMISSION concert and I saw a woman my age holding a 2 year old. They since there were no seats we all were being pushed around a bit and the music was VERY loud. My ears even felt funny during & after the concert.. I just kept thinking about that little 2 year olds eardrums...

Is it appropriate to bring a 2 year old to an loud concert?

No,that's not right at all.I can understand why you feel that way.Not only is it bad for the child, but if "mom" is that much of a dimwit, she's probably the type that could get distracted, and someone could take the child.God only knows how long it would take her to realize her baby was missing.Sometimes I have to wonder if people have brains, where are they at? I know it's a touchy subject, but maybe if you ever saw anything like that again, you could go to one of the security people and point it out to them. There should be some sort of age limit to protect young children. And with it being general admission, you could point out what's going on,and just move to another section,so you could remain anonymous. It's hard to get stuff like that off your mind when you see it.God bless you for your concern.

I say no. I dont think its appropriate to bring a child to a concert until they are old enough. For example, if its a sesame street concert and they can hold their attention span to watch, then thats fine. If its a rock concert or something, that could seriously hurt a child's ears and even worse, from what you said, people were shoving and pushing. That child could have got knocked out of the woman's arms and accidentally trampled. Not a smart idea in my opinion

I go to the race tracks and see children there, but they wear these earplugs that look like headphones. I would not take a young child to place with loud noise without some type of ear protection, and a rock concert is not appropriate at all.

If you would like to you could. But I wouldnt because of the loud music and it could make his hearing bad when hes older. Also because of well its a rock concert and well they get a little crazy sometimes! Im also sure you just want a night without the 2 year old so go have a night with your friends!

No, it is not appropriate at all. I have (and still do) attended many rock concerts and have often seen young kids there.
Depending on the band, the decibels are capable of exceeding that of a jet plane and can be very damaging to ANY ear drums without protection. My husband and I recently took our 9-yr-old son to his first rock concert and he did wear ear plus. I never would have considered taking him prior to this age, especially not two!

Any one in contact with noise should have ear protection. As you pointed out, even should have. Professional musicians have ear protection. If the child did not have ear protection there is a risk his/her hearing could be impaired. It could be considered a case of child neglect. It is great to have kids in concerts, but as you so well indicated, one needs to take care of them (ear protection, plenty of liquids, far away from people smoking, etc) - the same way one cares for them when they cross the streets or go out in bad weather.

In my opinion it's child abuse. Can you imagine what it does to their ears! Kids need stability in their lives, not the anarchy of a concert! Get a sitter or stay home! I also hate it when people briong their dogs, their hearing is so much better than ours, it's got to be miserable for them. Sorry to rant, but it really bothers me, I have stayed home from alot of things because I have kids, they are older now so I can do more, but it's just part of being a parent.

maybe the 2 year old didn't hear the music as well cause he/she was down amongst people's legs and the sound was blocked.

yes, it's not good to bring a 2 year old to that. I remember seeing a lady with a infant at this one dead show a long time ago. the lady was passing out and stuff on the concrete steps. very lame.

Probably not because of the dangers at a rock concert mainly the noise a 2 year old isnt ready for that type of sound. It's definitely inappropriate.

You never know though the kid might wanna rock the fawk out!!

No seriouly INAPPROPRIATE.........

Yeah, that was bad parenting Someone that could not find a babysitter and was damn if she was going to miss the show. Considering the drinking and drug use, a rock concert is not a place for a child.
