I know how to play more classical instruments, especially clarinet, but as well as flute, recorder, oboe, and trumpet. I am really interested in being in a band though, and want to learn something that would fit into that scene better. I am not interested in guitar, as so many people already play it. Any suggestions?

The piano/keyboard goes with pretty much everything, and it's fairly easy to pick up especially if you already know how to play other instruments. I <3 Piano.

There is always more than 1 flute player in the band so you could just play that. The trumpet is also always in the band. But if you just want to play another instrument you might look into these:
Saxophone, Tuba, Percussion, Piano, Trombone, Baritone, etc. It kind of depends on what group of instruments you like to play.

How about the saxophone? The sax will work in either a rock band, a small jazz combo, a big band, or a concert band. The fingerings are the same as on the clarinet's upper register (starting from the middle D in the staff), so you shouldn't have too much trouble getting into it.

Guys go crazy for female rhythm section people, so drums or bass guitar are good. Also, piano is an easy segue from the more classical instruments, and the fingering you've learned for those will probably translate better to a piano/keyboard. Good luck!

Be your own person. If you are interested in being in a band make them believe when you go to auditions that you would be an assett to there band by bringing in a different vibe. Really how many bands do you see out there that have a flute in it? If you don't want to do that try learning the drums that would be a fun thing to do.

I think that you don't need to learn a new instrument in order to play in a band. You'd better play the instruments you already love and are good at. Besides, there are millions that play guitars in bands but less people play wind instruments. Be unique!

Tighten up on your trumpet. Big band is making a comeback, but it's morphed into hip hop and soul mixes. Lots of modern bands are going back to orchestrations with brass. Of the instruments you named, that seems to be the one that would fit in a modern band.

I understand how you believe, dont fear you are going to get it again inside a couple of years in case you have adequate cash... there's a innovative new technological know-how that's basicly putting a microphone into your ears and plugin it into your mind. i cant pay attention however i will play devices. i don't have any suggestion if im well or no longer however from what humans (write) inform me im fairly well. be taught to learn peoples lips. dont finish your existence as you continue to have alot to head. believe of notes as phrases and make sentences. you'll be able to turn out to be popular. even within the toughest occasions you're satisfactory. be grateful a few humans dont have imaginative and prescient and are mute. simply take advantage of existence as it's and stay up for a healing.

DEFINATLY electric bass! I wanted to be in a band, so I had my parents buy me an electric bass. I tought myself how to play with books and stuff, and now I'm in two bands! Bass is easy to learn, but hard to become REALLY good at. But it's also aLOT of fun! And there aren't that many bass players hanging around...

flute or trumpet would work best. Perhaps a jazz band.
