Do you know the stalker in real life? Is he e-mailing you from an anonymous e-mail, and do you want to bust him? If so, then this trick will work.
Look at the "Full Headers" and look for the IP address. This tells you which computer the person sent the e-mail from.
Compare this IP address with the IP address in other e-mails that you have gotten from people that you suspect may be the stalker. (If you've never received a "normal" e-mail from him, then you'll have to cleverly find a way to get him to do it.)
If it matches, you've busted him! If a "normal" e-mail and a "stalker" e-mail come from the same computer, then you know that the "normal" person and the "stalker" person are probably the same person. (At least, they're using the same computer.)
But keep in mind, the IP address technically doesn't identify the person, it just identifies the computer from which the e-mail was sent.
If the stalker is a complete stranger, though, then it's almost impossible to find out their identity, though.

Police doesn't handle computer crime. You need to report to the FBI for investigation. They will handle it better than the police if it involves with computer.
You can look at the full header for IP address through Mail option that is in Yahoo! mail. However, mostly IP address will link to Yahoo headquarter. You do the IP address look up through www.dnsstuff.com .

Contact law enforcement. Many times they can trace the IP address where the email account was created, and go from there.

Report it as abuse to yahoo. There must be a protocol for this.
Isn't there an organisation called Net Angels who can help?
