Fortunately for the Post Office, our bills aren't the only thing we can potentially mail through them. Do you send, say, your Christmas cards via email too?

The post office has to raise the cost of stamps because there are already too many alternatives being used.
Email instead of letters, faxes, FedEx/UPS/DHL for ovrnight shipping and holiday packages.

If they don't raises the cost of stamps they lose money.

Raising postage will not put it out business, but the Internet as a whole might. That is why the Postal Service now has on-line pay of their own.

No. We still have to send things to people. It's like oil, regarldess of how much it costs we still have to use it.
