The post office has to raise the cost of stamps because there are already too many alternatives being used.
Email instead of letters, faxes, FedEx/UPS/DHL for ovrnight shipping and holiday packages.
If they don't raises the cost of stamps they lose money.

Raising postage will not put it out business, but the Internet as a whole might. That is why the Postal Service now has on-line pay of their own.

No. We still have to send things to people. It's like oil, regarldess of how much it costs we still have to use it.
