Chicago Democratic Congressman Mel Reynolds received a commutation of his six-and-a-half-year federal sentence for 15 convictions of wire fraud, bank fraud and lies to the Federal Election Commission. He also was convicted of having sex with an underage campaign volunteer. But Jesse Jackson added Reynolds to Rainbow/PUSH Coalition's payroll.

Reynolds was among the 176 criminals excused in President Clinton's last-minute pardon spree

In 1989, male prostitute Stephen L. Gobie admitted that Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., knew that Gobie had operated a prostitution service out of Frank's Capitol Hill apartment. Frank, an openly gay member of Congress, confirmed that he had Gobie as a roommate in his apartment. Frank said he fired Gobie when he learned that clients were visiting his apartment.

When former Rep. Gerry Studds (D-MA) admitted having sex with a teenage page, nobody in the Democratic leadership demanded he resign, nor did he offer to resign. He was re-elected 6 times.

DOCSCHOLL- You honestly think that "Democrats never portrayed themselves as self-righteous, moral standard-bearers of all that is virtuous"..?

Go back to the 1980's and see Al & Tipper Gore's attempt to get Rock and Rap banned. Sounds like moral standard bearing to me.

It should be a sin to be as ignorant of history as you have demonstrated you are.

I see your trying desperately to try and lay a smoke screen to protect your party. However no one would say that Dem's are the party of high morals. Where as repubs constantly push themselves as holier than thou. when one puts themselves on a pedestal you had better not fall it's a long way down and the landing is very painful. It also should be noted that all the above were punished except Clinton and Studds as they didn't break the law. Clinton had the right to pardon anyone he wants. Studds had sex with a 16 year old which is legal in most states including Washington DC and Massachusetts Studds home state. The scandal then was that he was gay. Foley on the other hand was in charge of the pages what he did was at least an ethical breach also he may have ran a foul of a anti-predator laws he helped to pass. In studds time these laws didn't exist so your smoke screen is rather thin and will be blown away as this scandal continues on.

No-- anybody who commits a crime, regardless of R or D needs to be prosecuted. What, just becuase I'm a D, I can't criticize an R for committing a crime?

Every president signs pardons in the last few days of his presidency-- let's go look at Regan, Bush I etc.... Heck even Nixon was pardoned by Ford.

btw-- for those of you who have forgotten-- this is not the first time there has been a scanal involving pages. There's was years ago as well.
Get real...

TAKE IT LIKE A MAN!

It is about what is happening now, to kids who are employed at the Capital Building. The Republican leadership in the house refused to share the information with the opposition. To bad, so sad, got caught screwing with the kids and the Repubican leadership did nothing to aviod this outcome.
You folks got away with murder for a very long time, but it was just a matter of time, when you play games with kids you deserve what you have coming, so I suggest you take it like a man.
If there are any men left in the Republican Congress!

I think...
that Republican vs. Democrat is just a way to divide us as a people. We're too busy arguing with eachother about such topics that we're not able to achieve much of anything anymore. Instead of bickering amongst eachother about who's party did what illegal sex act and with whom we should focus on more important issues rather than pointing fingers at eachother like we're in some sort of elementary school argument.

Democrats never (read: NEVER) portrayed themselves as self-righteous, moral standard-bearers of all that is virtuous...now have they?

What we have with today's Republican party can be summed in one simple word: HYPOCRITE.

A definition (in case you are ignorant as to the meaning of the word) is found at the link.

The Republicans have a lot more cleaning up to do than the Democrats.

Maybe, but that doesn't change the fact that Foley is a homosexual PEDOPHILE, not to mention a huge HYPOCRITE.
The Dems have predominantly sex scandals, the Reps have predominantly money scandals, so if I have to choose a party based on scandals, I'll go with the Dems as they have more fun! LOL!!!

No one is saying they shouldn't. But, Republicans preach on and on how about how holy and above reproach they are; if you set yourself to such an exhaulted standard you should live up to it or shut up. Abusing a child is abusing a child no matter who you are.

Everyone expects sexually perverted politicians to be Democrats.
It shocks people if even one Republican acts like the many, many Democrats.
