I got great customer service from Dell when I bought my PC. They didn't try a hard sell. They talked me through all my options and were very courteous and patient. Even after I placed my order they kept me informed of what was going on; when the PC would arrive; and once I received it they contacted me to make sure I was happy with it. You can't get better than that!

As part of my divorce I had to close down the joint cheque account and open my own. Problem was that all the direct debits ran from that account. All the assets in there were mine, so there was no problem over who the money in there belonged to.
My bank (HSBC) could not have been more helpful if they tried. I was able to do it all over the phone in a single 5 minute call, transfer all the direct debits across from the old account to the new one without any of them getting missed payments, they contacted all the people I had DD's with on my behalf with the new details etc.
They transferred most of the money across there and then, leaving enough in the old account for me to still be able to access funds until the new card, PIN and chequebook came through, at which point I closed the old account.
The whole thing took less than a week in total, and no stress at all on my part!
Now THAT'S customer service!

Nice little examples are when an assistant actually takes you to the item you are asking how to find.OK, there are incentives for them, but it's still nice. It's happened to me a few times.
Another was when I ordered something from a shop by mail order. The site didn't record my card number for some reason, so they just sent it anyway, asking me to pay some other way when I got the stuff. Trusting or what? OK, maybe too trusting, but I am pretty reliable.

Hmm..wonder which application form you're filling out. This is a classic question for forms and at interviews.
Good examples are:
-Specially ordering items for customers..
-Going out of your way to find an item for somebody
-Advising customers of promotions and special offers related to an item they are purchasing
etc..etc...there are loads of examples I could give you !

When I stayed at a Hampton Inn hotel in Florida a couple of times over a couple of years, the last time I was there, the manager came out to greet me at check in. That says a lot when they remember you.

A few instances at Walmart.
1)During the holiday season one year I was looking for a Christmas movie and the clerk took me straight to it.
2)At 2:00A.M. when I was buying a Gameboy Advance on launch day the clerk took it to the front register and then I finished shopping and payed for it when I was done. :-) (I like going early for console launches.) :-)
