I am 36 weeks preg. and I went to the hospital two nights ago for contractions. They were a lot and they varied in pain. They couldnt get them to stop so they gave me some ambien and something else to relax my muscles. But, that didnt work either, they were still coming, it only made the pain less. They sent me home to get some sleep since they gave me ambien and I was out all day long yesterday and through the night. Last night I woke up having a bad contraction and sweating bad. I took some tylenol and went back to sleep. I woke up this morning and they are starting again. When they did check me the other night they said that I was thinning out and soft but I hadnt dilated yet, but my cervix was in position for labor. I know when they start getting stronger and longer that it could possibly be labor but how can I try and get them to stop? I want to try and keep him in there as long as I can. Has anyone went through this and how long did it take before you actually started labor?

I have already had the shot once before when I was at 31 weeks to stop labor from coming.

If you really want to wait the best thing to do is stay in bed on your left side. Drink lots of water and eat five small meals a day. When the contractions seem stronger drink 3 cups water and eat a small snack, like a yogurt. (This is what I was told when I went into preterm labor starting at 23 weeks)
When I was 36 I was just ready to have him 13 weeks of contractions is just way too long and 36 wks is when the dr stopped my meds and told me not to try to stop it anymore. He was finally born at 37 wks. all was fine. I also had twins at 34 weeks and only one had to spend time in NICU and that was only until she learned to eat on her own.
All will be fine if you have him now. Good luck!

What should I avoid while taking zolpidem?
Zolpidem may impair your thinking or reactions. You may still feel sleepy the morning after taking zolpidem, especially if you take the extended-release tablet, or if you are a woman. Wait until you are fully awake before you drive, operate machinery, pilot an airplane, or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert.
Dizziness or severe drowsiness can cause falls, accidents, or severe injuries.
Avoid taking zolpidem during travel, such as to sleep on an airplane. You may be awakened before the effects of the medicine have worn off. Amnesia (forgetfulness) is more common if you do not get a full 7 to 8 hours of sleep after taking zolpidem.
Do not take this medicine if you have consumed alcohol during the day or just before bed.

There is no reason for u 2 keep your baby longer. I gave birth to my first baby within that period. SHE WAS PREMATURE but was not put in a bottle. The doors and windows of d room she was kept in where always shut and only the doctor, a nurse and I were allowed in there. Her whole body was wrapped up, except her face.
I laboured for 9hrs.
My 2nd child wasn't premature; My labour up till her birth lasted for 14 hrs.
Please don't worry. Everything will be o.k.

If you can't stop them, then it's the real deal and your baby is ready for his/her great appearance. Since you've been contracting 3 days now you should call your dr or go to the hospital and see if you've dilated. You'll be perfectly fine, I hope everything goes well, congratulations.

This is probably nothing more than Braxton-Hicks, or pre-labor, starting to prepare your body for the big game. Could still be weeks off. The best person to ask is your doctor, cause everyone is different!

A full term pregnancy is 37 weeks. You really have nothing to worry about. Go walking and have sex. He obviously wants out and its not to early to have him.
