A baby knows familiar voices at birth. Talking to baby and reading to baby and keeping to schedules is the best way to start the learning process. It sets up the process and enable parent to bond which is probably the first learning. As for the reading, my son and grandson could read by 3 because of being read to and then recognition and of course, contact with other children. My 8 yr old grandson reads at 7th grade level, does math and science at 7-8 grade level. It is because he has an older brother and sister and they share their worktime with him. Phonix was a big help to progress. We got it for his brother when he was 6 and already reading. 4 of my grandchildren love to read because it represents personal time. We started the reading on the first day home. Taking a few minutes 2 or 3 times a day to allow the parent to rest while everyone had to be quiet for the babies reading time. It generally put them to sleep and seems much better that the dvd or tv. One grandchild likes to be read to but does not sit still long so they have to be quick. He loves picture books that are not long and make noises. He is 2.

Once your baby learns any new skills they are always eager to show them off and especially to their parents. Being a mother of two I have learned a lot. My son is two and a half and more than a handful and I just had a baby about three weeks ago and she will mock my expressions, like smiling and opening her mouth. Be sure to bond with your baby and read to them and they will learn a lot because you are their first teacher and the most important one. A baby learns the most within the first year of their life and it is crucial to teach them as much as possible. Even making eye contact exercises their brain. Well, I hope my information was useful. Enjoy your baby because they grow up before your eyes.

they learn from the moment of conception. Learning is an everyday thing. Babies start at an early age from conception and they continue to learn until they are old and die. They say if you read to a baby while you are still pregnant with it, it will learn and read at an early age. So start as soon as possible.

babies actually start learning even before they're born. the brain becomes active very early in the pregnancy and at that point, it's already possible to start affecting the brain patterns of the baby.

you always want to start teaching children as early as possible, since their brains are still forming neurons and pathways. make sure their brains continue to receive "exercise."

You actually dont need to 'teach' your baby, your baby learns through normal playtime and interaction with others. Structured teaching simply isnt necessary with babies (and can cause stress in older children if pushed too hard).

Only when your baby is ripe.
Place the baby on a window ledge until it turns nutty brown then bombard the bugger with facts.
Soon your baby will be a genius and impress people with an array of useless facts whilst appearing a pleasing colour.
Good luck!

Babies begin learning before they're even born!!! They can hear everything going on outside the womb, so playing music and talking to your child before she/he comes out helps their brain development. it is never too soon to start teaching your children!!

They start learning in the womb and never stop. Lots of talking, lots of classical music, lots of interaction (and for the first six months lots of black and white patterns to help the brain understand the eyes messages so they can move onto the next stage).
