Tools needed:
Soft cloth (an old diaper or rag will do)
Channel lock Pliers (preferred ) or a pair of pliers and an Adjustable wrench
New Shower head
Teflon plumbers tape
1. Remove old shower head: Using one of the soft cloths, place it inside of the pliers or on the chrome extension pipe coming from the wall (the cloth is to keep the pliers from marring the pipe) Grasp the pipe with the pliers tightly and using the adjustable wrench (previously adjusted to fit the flat lands on the shower head connector) Turn the shower head in a counter clockwise direction (to the left) until it disconnects
2. IMPORTANT STEP--- THIS IS THE ONE EVERYONE NEGLECTS AND IT CAUSES WATER DAMMAGE AND LEAKS FROM THE SHOWER HEAD!! Wrap teflon tape around the threads of the Chrome extension pipe in a CLOCKWISE (to the right) direction at least two turns so that all of the threads are covered.
3. Begin threading the new shower head to the extension pipe by hand until it is "hand tight", also be sure to also hold the extension pipe while doing this. Then using the soft cloth and pliers again, and the adjustable wrench adjusted to fit the new shower head tighten the shower head 1-2 more turns.
4. Turn on the shower head and check the connection for leaks. If it leaks, turn off the water and tighten the shower head more. Repeat until it no longer leaks. If it continues to leak, then you have buggered up the teflon tape (it seals the threads and keeps it from leaking) Take the shower head off and repeat steps 2-4. The most common cause of the teflon tape failing is not wrapping it in a clockwise direction (to the right). If you wrap it counter clockwise (to the left). The process of screwing on the showerhead will remove it.

1. Buy a new shower head.
2. Buy some Teflon tape.
3. Unscrew the old shower head from the pipe. (You might need a wrench if it's tight). And make sure you don't bend the pipe coming out of the wall.
4. Wrap fresh teflon tape around the pipe threads.
5. Screw on the new shower head.
6. Turn on the water.
7. Make sure there isn't any leaking.
8. If leaking - tighten it some more.
9. Put away the tools and throw away old showerhead and trash.
10. Take a shower! :)

You will need a pipe wrench, a crescent wrench, and some teflon tape. Put the pipe wrench on the small pipe coming from the shower wall positioned so that you will be pulling the pipe in a clockwise direction. Put the crescent wrench on the base of the old shower head so that you are pulling it in a counter clockwise direction. Pull both wrenches at once so that they are working against each other. The shower head should come right off. Wrap the threads of the pipe with about 8-10 layers of teflon tape, and reverse the wrenching procedure to tighten the new head in place. Be firm but not too agressive with your wrenching, so as not to damage the joints leading to the shower head and causing leaks.

You will need a new shower head, and a roll of teflon tape, and possibly an adjustable wrench.
Unscrew the old shower head and wrap a layer or two of teflon tape to the threads of the shower head pipe coming out of the wall. Screw the new shower head onto the pipe being careful not to strip the threads. Tighten slightly with a wrench and turn on the shower. If It drips water from the threaded area tighten the shower head a bit more until the dripping stops!

Actually it's very simple. Just unscrew it. When you put the new shower head on, make sure you buy some plumbers tape (also known as Teflon Tape) and wrap it around the threads before you put the new one on.

If your changing the shower head, it screws on and off. you shouldnt need more than a wrench and something to cover the new head (so you dont scratch the finish when tightening).

You should be able to screw the old one off, screw the new one on. Might need a pipe wrench to get the old one off. Just hand tighten the new one on. Test it and if it leaks, tighten with the wrench, but not too tight. Just enough to stop the leak.
