First of all your water doesn't always break on it's own. Your pee will never be clear and odorless. And you don't always start having contractions or pains right after it breaks, but you do need to go to the hospital right away. Usually you will know when your water breaks, because fluid will continue to leak out of you. Either it will be a big gush at first and then a little every now and then as you change positions like laying down. Or it sometimes never gushes and just will continue to leak. If you ever think it did break though be sure to call your doctor or the labor and delivery so you can explain it to them and get their advice.

Hello,
I am a mother of a 22 month old girl and an 8 month old boy.
I knew for certain when my water broke both times because i was sleeping and was woken up by a gush of water. With my first child i jumped straight out of bed and looked at the floor and i was making a puddle on the floor. So i ran to the bathroom.
With the second child i was more wise and i had a pad on at the time and when i felt it break i jumped up, pushed my husband to wake him up and ran to the bathroom without spilling a drop.
To answer your other question; your urine can be clear and odorless if you are hydrated and have been drinking a lot of water. But when your water breaks it feels different than that because you aren't relaxing those muscles.
Also, with the first baby the painful contractions didn't start till about 8 hours later (i was in labor for 23 hrs and 45 Min's). But with the second one they started an hour later (my labor went for 2 and a half hours).
I didn't have an epidural for either because i gave birth in Australia (my home land). You can tell when you are just about to deliver because the contractions get close together an a lot more intense.
Well, congratulations on the imminent birth of your little bundle of joy. I hope i answered your question.
Another thing.... dont be afraid. Keep your peace. Let your body do what it was designed to do.

My water broke before I felt any pain at all. In fact they had to induce labor once I got to the hospital because I wasn't dialating. It feels like a pop down there and then suddenly there is alot of liquid leaking out of you. The liquid is clear at first, and gets a little bloody after a few hours when the mucus plug comes out. You will know it is your water because it won't stop leaking once it starts. You will have to keep replacing your pads to keep your pants dry on your way to the hospital. It doesn't hurt when your water breaks unless you are already having labor pains. Hope I gave enough info. Good luck.

once you're in water, taking a bath or bath you would possibly want to no longer understand suitable even as your water breaks. yet once you get out you'll. it is going to proceed to leak and spill out til the toddler comes. you would possibly want to bleed really too, and may sense contractions drawing close. i'd not difficulty about it. you'll understand even with if it takes position in the bathe you'd be in a position to inform after. i'd not bypass swimming. it may reason an infection if you're dialating. docs regularly dont propose that. also, once you get your membranes stripped do fairly some walking. Stripping membranes dont continually paintings. they could ought to do it again at a destiny appt. If the toddler isn't waiting the toddler wont come. yet walking helps, fairly some walking. you could also attempt raspberry leaf tea. Dont attempt castor oil, it dont continually paintings and it can make the toddler have a bowel stream in utero. good luck.

I want to let you know my short little story. My water never really "broke". I started to slowly leak fluid. I thought maybe the baby was just pressing on my bladder and I was leaking fluid a little bit. It was just so slight that my panties would be damp and I would change them every few hours. Seemed strange but I was pretty active so I just thought that was it. Twelve hours later I thought maybe we should have it checked out. Low and behold I was having mild contractions and my water had "broke". If this happens don't wait because having a dry birth is dangerous. This can be dangerous for the baby also. Congrats on the baby!!!!

It doesn't hurt at all. I kind of felt a bulging of fluid in that area. Only a little bit came out - no gush. Mine was a little pink tinged from the mucus plug, but odorless. You will know if it is your water breaking - it's not the same sensation as peeing at all.

Honey, you'll know when your water breaks. It's just how it looks on t.v.
You'll feel alot of presure, like you have to pee only nothing will come out. And then, it will break (and it's alot) and all the presure will be gone (at least for a while).
It is clear and odorless, theres alot of it and it doesn't hurt.
Good luck.

When my water broke, it scared the crap out of me. ( I had to have my water broken with my 1st ) It does not hurt. It's sort of like a pressure releasing & then your all wet. Everyone is different, but usually it take a little while for the pain to start then. Good Luck & Congrats!

I was in baby class when my water broke at 26 weeks, and we were discussing water breaking, and at break time i asked her about a constant dripping, so sent me to the hospital where they tested and found out it was amniotic fluid leaking out. The bag sealed itself, and I delivered at 40 weeks, when it broke that time it was a gush, it hurt because she had kicked or punched me, and it gushed out.

Scary times! i was told that you WOULD know. However, most peoples water doesn't break on its own. Talk to your doctor, they might have better advice on this. I have had two kids and am pregnant with my third, but my water has never broke on its own.
Good luck, hopefully you don't have to wait too long! Enjoy your son!
