What I tell everybody.
Four things: 1. Check out rare booksellers' websites.
2. Check out Sothbey's auction house website.
3. Check out Christies' auciton house website. Both auction houses have experts that know the value of many saleable items.
4. Go to the Library of Congress' website at: loc.gov and post your question there. You will probably get more answers than you can believe as this is the largest library in the world.

Look it up on www.bookfinder.com. Put in the date, edition, etc. to get the best match. That's the site that rare book dealers post their books for sale. When it brings up the other listings, try to match your book to the closest one. Remember that condition is very important in the pricing.

Try seeing if there is a listing for the first or any edition in abebooks.com. It will give you a base value to estimate from.
