I really want to become a model. I think I am decently looking, though not extremely thin. I don't really know where to start, and my parents aren't helpful about it at all, claiming models are stupid, lazy, etc. I would appreciate any tips or comments. thanks!

if you want to be a model, then look normal, have a normal shapely body. dont be one of these girls that eat half a lettuce leaf a day, look horribly thin and are able to hide behind sticks, they just look disgusting. who would want to be with a size 0 whose ribs stick into you when you cuddle them!!

Well It doesn't take much, you just need to go find a RUPUTABLE agency, and see what they offer. they're have contacts and agents that can get you work. but the thing is commitment. once you decide you want to be modelling, you'll have to take care of yourself, workout, run, stuff like that. also get an idea in you head of how you want to model. set rules that you will follow on what you WILL NOT do. such as nudes et al. Sure there will likely be bikini shots, but don't do anything you're not comfortable with. Also when negotiating contracts, make sure you've got a stake in the pictures, that you will retain some ownership of the pictures until you're paid for them or at least an agreement that you would recive royalties each time your picture is used.. Good luck.

I am in this business, so i think i can help. First of all, if u wanna be a big model, like one at the top of the world, ur gonna have to be a double zero. Girls on the runway are even smaller than that usually. You should start by looking up local agencies, that tell you to send in a picture of yourself, and they'll give u a call. If u dont get a call, then u shouldn't pursue it much more. And, if ur parents aren't gonna be there 4 you 100%, its kind of a bust. U need ur parents support and help. Hope this helps.

go to "net-model.com" its an on-line modelling agency, put your photos and profile on there (for free!) and photographers get to see it and if they like the look of you they contact you for shoots, you will have to start off doing unpaid but, you will get all your pics given to you on a disk and you can build up your own portfolio.
when you have experience and good pics, photographers will pay you for work, and some of your pics could start appearing in magazines, calenders, catalogues etc, if you work hard you can take it even further, to get famous its about getting noticed so do as much as you can.
when you first start out there are some photographers that will train you so you no how to pose, you will find it very helpful and you will learn allot from it.
i did it but gave it up soon after cos other work commitments but you should definitely give it a go if its what you want to do.

p.s models aren't lazy, its really is hard work, some shoots last hours, and the pose can be agonising cos you have to stretch and bend into un-natural, very uncomfortable positions and hold them for long lengths of times and you are expected to remember your poses. also not all of them are stupid, allot of them come from good backgrounds, with good educations and go to university.

good luck

My ex-girlfreind is a model that have been in several mags. First and formost you NEED an agent, check with your local talent agencies. Also you need to contact a photographer and ask to set up a photo shoot. You will need 'comp cards' including head shots, full body, different background scences, different hair styles, etc, etc. A good photographer knows what you will need. Once you get your comp cards together you can mail them out to different agencies. Take advantage of casting calls when they come to your town, but also be prepared to travel frequently. It takes a lot of time and money. GOOD LUCK!

OK. . if you want to become a model..pay CLOSE attention....this is what you do, 1.)= become anorexic/ bulimic/develop some sort of eating disorder..2.) look like sh*t....3.) have some creepy guy take some pics of you expecting something in return...4.) make sure people see you as a piece of meat(well actually like a sack of bones if you ask me)....and last but not least4.) use drugs....preferably cocaine..look at the wonders it did for Kate moss....once you have compleated all this you are a model.. good luck on wasting your life away with such a stupid and meaningless occupation

I think everyone has pretty much summed up what you need to do, so theres no point me trying, best of luck with your career, and remember you don't need to look like everyone else to succeed, take me for example, I've been told I'm too small to be a professional wrestler, but I'm still going for it, despite not having any encouragement, best of luck again, byeee x

never ask you for money

Why not? If you think you have the talent, and the desire, then go for it, let nothing stand in the way of your dreams.
