I have combination skin too. Most cleansers I've tried take care of the oily parts, but the dry parts just get even dryer. I've been using Elizabeth Arden's 2-in-1 Cleanser which is a non-soap foaming cleanser and toner in one. It's a very good cleanser, my skin is stripped of the excess oil, but my entire face is still nice and soft. My skin texture had started getting a bit rough from other cleansers, but now it's back to being as soft as it was when I was a kid. And it's not overly expensive either. I'd give that a shot!

I would try Arbonne Intelligence line. It great for combination skin and make your skin feel extremely silky! I signed up for the discount and got the intelligence kit for 35% off. The stuff is great and the kit last 6-8 months. I have really sensitive skin so I just skip the masque. Plus all the products are vegan certified, hypo-allergenic, and all natural. They only use plant products and oils.
To make a wise decision, we need to know the facts. The skin is a living organ, as well as the largest functioning organ of the body that protects us by preventing bacteria, germs and pollutants from entering the blood stream. Everything we put on our skin is absorbed and goes through every vital organ. Our skin breathes out waste and toxins and takes in oxygen, moisture and nutrients. Most ingredients used in American skin care formulations contain potentially harmful ingredients, and at the very least these ingredients can cause allergic reactions. How can this happen? The FDA does not regulate what can be put into skin care products. All the cosmetic company has to do is list the ingredient and they can use it. Arbonne’s Swiss formulated (manufactured in the U.S.) products are for the educated label reading consumer and are pure, safe and beneficial.
Ingredients to Avoid:
Mineral Oil
Mineral oil is the #1 most used ingredient in American skin care. Mineral oil & all petroleum-based ingredients are products of black crude oil. Baby oil is only refined 7 times; Vaseline is refined even less than that. Mineral oil’s molecules are too large to penetrate the pores, so it is not absorbed into the skin. It just sits on the surface of the skin creating a barrier that traps in toxins, dirt & bacteria, clogs the pores and causes breakouts and good nutrients can’t get into deeper layers. Due to its cheap cost ($1.00/gallon compared to $100.00/gallon for essential oils) most skin care lines use mineral oil as a moisturizer and filler. Arbonne does not use mineral oil in any of its products.
Our bodies are 70% water so we need a water-based moisturizer to penetrate down through the pores to deeper layers of skin. Remember for skin care products to be effective, they must be absorbed into your system… Arbonne products Absorb!
Lanolin
Lanolin is an oily excretion of sheep and is a common lubrication ingredient in skin formulas. Extracted from the wool, lanolin has been indicated as a cause of allergic skin reactions is sensitive people. It is also one of the most highly allergic ingredients according to the FDA. Arbonne does not use lanolin.
Collagen
An animal product, collagen is added to formulas as a moisturizing agent. Collagen is just like mineral oil - the molecules are too big to be absorbed and can therefore clog pores, blocking the skin’s own natural breathing and secretion process and absorption of other nutrients. The only way to get collagen is by injections or by using products that have ingredients that work together to promote the production of your own natural collagen. Arbonne products are formulated to do this. The internal production of collagen will smooth out facial lines, wrinkles and scars by replenishing the natural support layer beneath your skin.
Bar Soap
Do you like to clean soap scum in the shower? Bar soap users have the same soap scum on their body & face. They will need to use twice as much moisturizer for it to penetrate through the film.
Chemical Dyes & Fragrances
Arbonne never uses any artificial fragrances or chemical dyes. These can cause allergic reactions and photosensitivity in some people. Arbonne only puts products with a zero rating for allergic reaction on the market although the FDA will allow products with a rating of up to a three on the market.
SD 40 Alcohol
Strips the skins natural acid mantle, exposing the pores to bacteria & germs. This also makes the skin oilier because it tricks your skin into thinking it is dry, so it produces more oil. Arbonne does not use this.
Free Radicals & Antioxidants
Free radical or “oxidative” damage is what makes your skin age. They have also been shown to be responsible for the initiation of many diseases, including heart disease and cancer. Antioxidants help protect against free radical damage. Antioxidants in the form of nutritional supplements as well as topical application give you the ammunition to fight off the aging process. All of Arbonne’s moisturizers contain the most effective antioxidants to combat the visible signs of premature aging.
