Yes it makes a lot of noise because it is a tree and it is falling.

The weight and the friction with the other trees creates sound and the tree falls to the ground.

Even a ball, when it hits the ground, makes a sound. And the tree is huge.

The sounds in nature are there. SOmetimes one should just walk through nature and see what happens.

The question like 'what is the sound of one hand clapping'
Is about you and your understanding of two things namely the environment and logical reasoning. The answer is different for everyone dependant upon their beliefs and thus how they see the world. So now you know you can spend the rest of your life working out an answer. If you really think about it, the second part of the REAL question which is implied, is simple logic, and the answer is easil shown to be yes it makes a sound. The first part about your beliefs is the important one and affects you and your life only. Your answer to this is yours and yours alone, and will take a lifetime to answer. So have fun and dont ask the same question again PUHLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE

Common sense tells you that it does indeed make a sound, even if no one is there to hear it. However, it could not be proven in reality. For it to be proven, it must be observed or recorded by someone or thing. So, you will never know the answer for sure. Its the same type of question as, ' is there a God '.

Hope all these answers help.

Note to "pakoalpha": Just because a "human" is not there to hear it does not mean that no one else does. Sound is sound, whether it vibrates a human eardrum, or that of a chipmunk, or a bird or a bug. Or if the vibrations only stir a leaf or handfull of dust.

Yes, it makes a sound. Just because no one hears it dosent meen it didnt happen. Its simple logic really, as the chances of it falling WITHOUT making a sound are imposible. This is scientific fact

sound is what you can hear(without concentrating) or listen (when you do concentrate), now if there is no one there, IT means that no one heard anything, in the other hand if we are talking about physical science then yes the fallen tree does make a sound.

Something falling in a forest always makes sound waves. Whether or not there's ANYTHING around to recieve the sound waves determines whether or not there's any sound.
