Since the year was 1741, I would guess that she was deported to one of the North American Colonies; Georgia, perhaps, if she were a debtor.

There is only one possible place and that's the then American Colonies. Australia did not come on line until around the 1780s plus into the 1800s and early 19th century. Hard to believe that the Brits were transporting [deporting] people to America, but its actually true. If you mean DEPORTED as though Elizabeth Hardy were an alien! Cannot help you with that.

I did a search on her name and came up with nothing. Unusual...do you have more info about her? You can ask the teacher where to find the info and tell them you have searched the net with no results. Also have your daughter ask other kids if and where they found the info. I hate it when they give assignments like this! Good luck!

I think she was from cornwall if that helps. she was sent there with her husband and children, I think they all died and she came back to england and won her case to stay.... i remember seeing a film ( kate winslet was in it I think) about it recently you could try looking in the law reports for hardy v regina or king....
