could a goldfish and another type of fish give birth? For example, goldfish or maybe a betafish?

you mean could they mate??? no, I don't thinks so thats why there are no crazy mongrel fish in the sea.

Yes. the DNA code for several species of fish are the same. the problem is compatibility. For example; Beta's are so aggressive that they would rather kill your goldfish than fertilize.

Don't try it with a betta, they are out to kill any other fish. thats why they are in the little containers all alone at the pet stores.

Beta fish will not mate with gold fish. Beta is a fighter fish..If you put them togehter, gold fish will die
