I've had my daughter completely weaned off of breastfeeding for about 8 days now and I'm still very lumpy and it's very painful. How long does this take to go away? I did the weaning gradual- eliminating 1 feeding over a few days. And the last week I was down to only the before bed feeding.

The pain will probably subside over the next 2-3 days. The milk could take a long time to dry up completely.

You could try taking an anithistamine at night to help dry it up. There are also many herbs that can help. Sage tea is the most common.

DO NOT bind your breast or wear extremely tight bras!! This can cause a breast infection and that hurts!!

This differs with each person. With my oldest son whom I only nursed him for 6 months, it took me two weeks before my breasts stopped hurting, but with my 5th son I nursed him for 20 months and It never hurt me when I stopped nursing. It didn't even hurt the day I first stopped. I don't know if the longer you nurse for the easier it is on your breasts, or what. But i'd say all and all up to two weeks it may take. SO just bare with it, it will get better and easier as each day passes.

it can take a few weeks. And some women willl still have milk in their bodies for some months afterwards. U can put on cold compress on ur breast.. Wear tight sports bras. Massage them.

Wow, you did it correctly. Can you try pumping just enough to ease the pain, that's what I did and it took a couple of weeks.
