Not any more than any other category of population.
It would be discrimination.
To boot, indulging in alcohol is legal, and politicos are more likely than many to have a chauffeur so they don't fall for DUI.
As for drugs, it's like everybody else, you must have probable cause before you do a spot check, politics are not sports where drugs actually unfairly enhance your performance.
An additional point is that if you hold them to saintly standards and forbid them from enjoying creature comforts, you may get them to be clean, but you're likely to also get them nasty, cranky, and possibly even more twisted and corrupt than they would normally be.

You know that's not a bad idea. Think of all the important bills that are being passed (or rejected) when your representitive is high on something. Hey if sports people have to take random drug tests and the outcome of a game does not cause a world war....

Drug and alcohol tests should be done on all politicians before they vote on major legislation....what they do in their own time is their business but when they are doing the business of the country they should be clean and sober.
