a couple of points come to mind.. first.. when you were young and got a real cool new toy.. did you want anyone else to have it? of course not.. and it lost some of it's luster and value to you when everyone has one. secondly.. since world war II the US has been in a state of pre-emptive thought.. we have started to view the world as "We should attack/sanction that nations because we KNOW they are going to do something to us one day".. although i don't ethically agree with this, it's easy to see how someone can rationalize that way... take for example Iran.. the US government takes the view of this.. if they were to obtain nuclear power either they would use it against us, give it to someone to use against us, or they would use it as a threat to bully us..... because of that they believe they should take a seemingly logical step and prevent them from having nuclear weapons/technology. Now, even though i don't believe this point of view is ethical and i don't personally agree with it, it is easy to see how the US could take this stance.. i think the government has failed to realize that this line of thought leads to self fulfilling prophecies.. in other words.. we treat nations in a way that make them do the very things we were worried about them doing.
P.S. the bombs dropped on japan were atomic hydrogen bombs and would be a pin prick compared to some of the advanced nuclear weapons of today.

If each and every sane citizen carried a gun, confident, crime could drop extraordinarily. yet you does not intentionally supply a gun to an insane man or woman who's basically reason is to kill people. yet while he did, he could quickly be stopped by using a rational man or woman with a gun. same ingredient with the nukes. we don't have international nuclear conflict because of the fact one u . s . using it may be suicide for the human race. If we enable an insane u . s . to have nukes, he could quite plenty basically use it, triggering a international nuclear conflict, which could no longer somewhat be stopped. i do no longer see any conflict or hypocracy there.

As long as the US can supress the ownership of nuclear weapons, they can dictate terms to the nations that do not have the ability to nuke the US.
Hopefully, nOrth Korea will develop a weapon and nuke Japan again for all the destruction the Japs did to the Koreaens for almost a hundred years.

Because the US believes they are special, God's chosen people, different and apart from all others - essentially the master nation instead of the master race of Nazi Germany. In order to further their own interests (at the expense of others who can ultimately be bullied into submission) the US will threaten and cajole all those who want to approach their power.

You are incorrect. We never used a nuclear bomb against another country. Like it or not we are the lone super power on this planet. This country has the responsibility to keep rogue nations (Iran, North Korea) from launching a nuclear attack on another country.

Because we are the most powerful country in the world. We bombed Japan and we don't want the same repercussions for any other country.

Somebody has to watch out for what is going on. If you don't, then some nut or dictator pops and starts WWIII. Remember a guy named Hitler? He started the last one and we finished it. Had we been there beforehand, and not practicing Isolationism, we could've popped him and stopped him dead in his tracks. You have to know history in order not to repeat it.

because the u.s is the closest thing earth has to a moral nation though we are far from perfect).
tis whole" who are we to say this or do that" thing is another way of saying "i don't believe in right and wrong or good and evil.
i really don't understand why some people do not move if the u.s is so terrible.

We are bullies, plain and simple, and 9/11 was a reaction to that-not saying justified, but nonetheless. I will be surprised if we do not suffer more attacks in the coming years.
