No, he is not finished but he needs proper protection and should not come back too early. If he does, he could do more harm than good. He has the right attitude and will be fully committed to any training programme he is given. If things do get too hard for him in the top flight, he should maybe consider dropping down the the Championship league. A lot of players say they love football but finish playing in the premiership, if they loved football as much as they say they do, they would drop down a league or 2 which would give them more time playing, they could then also get some experience in a coaching/management role which would give them a good foundation for their time as a manager or coach.

He is the best England goal scorer. Look at how Liverpool have been without him and running out the likes of Cisse and Morientes? During the world cup after he was hurt, then things got worse for England.
He has his share of injuries but on his day he is the complete player. Speed, agility, creativity, strong in the air, and he is a clutch player. Does anyone recall the pre-World cup game against Argentina?
He is dynamite and when he is back will silence the doubters.

The whole thing about Owen is his pace. His finishing is good, but it was all about beating the man, getting the extra yard and then shooting. Over the past 3 years, due to injury etc, he has lost this pace, therefore has lost his edge. If he's able to get 100% fit and is able to get his pace back, then maybe he has a chance to be great again. But he was always going to have a diminishing career. Shearer, Rooney, Sheringham et al don't rely on pace alone, therefore can go on for longer - I don't think Owen will be able to, especially if he doesn't recover 100% from his injury - if he's only 99%, I don't think he'll be able to get back to his best.

he is not the player he once was in he's best years which were at liverpool and that wonder goal against the argies where he went on to score from the half way line at the tender age of 18
however i think people would be a fool to write him of he is only 26 and still has a lot to other for club and country.and who knows he could beat jimmy greaves 49 goals 4 england time will tell.

He relies solely on his speed but he has had so many leg injuries you have to wonder if he didn't push himself too far resulting in all those injuries. I always wondered what would Owen have to offer if he didn't have the speed. He cant head a ball and he is no great shakes with it at his feet. I think his best days are behind him.

I think he has been finished, as far as international level is concerned, for 3 years. He should not have gone to Germany, and will continue to get injured for the rest of his career. He has turned into the new Darren Anderton- bad news for Newcastle
