Couple did not married. They planned a wedding, but it didn't work out. The custody battle is messy. The mother is trying to take sole custody through character assassination; including false accusations. Father is on the verge of doing the same.

I have been fighting the same thing for now over two years but I was married. Get the court to assign a GAL to review both parents and child. Document everything. Never bad-mouth or do anything to the other parent in front of the child. Remember that the child has a right and need to love both parents equally. Try looking into support groups dealing PAS and father's rights groups.

Tell your friend to always take higher ground. She may not be able to prove the accusations she's making against him, and is out to rattle his cage. Unless there's a tangible, valid reason why they shouldn't have shared custody, a judge should be able to see through the mess. Once her lies about him are revealed, she should be given a psychiatric evaluation to make sure she's fit to raise the child. Not because of revenge, but because there's no telling what damaging lies she'll tell the child while raising him. I've seen it happen.

For the child sake they should get joint custody. It would be better in the long run for the child. They need to be adults about it, but their differences aside and help each other raise the child together. (no bad mouthing the other in front of the child)

The best thing to do is remain calm and not bash each other. The two of them will have to deal with each other for the life of the child.
