the strongest metal will retain the heat longest
but it's slower to heat up. The weakest metal
like pewter will heat up faster but won't retain the heat for long! Contact: Ebersole, or Eloxite,
or Lapidary Journal for more info. (sorry about being so brief but I've been on yahoo since 6:30 and this is only the 3rd question I answered!.. Yahoo is atrociously slow today!)

Copper retains heat evenly and well--hence all those copper bottoms in cooking pans.
