Yes, I believe they do have a chance.
Verlander has to be the pitcher he's been all year in order for The Tigers to stand a really good chance. No excuses.
IF The Tigers lose today, then it will be tougher.
Also you have to consider that NO ONE (especially me) thought The Tigers would be where they are right now.
Regardless of what happens to The Tigers I remain a loyal and faithful fan.
It could go 5 games.

I think they have a great chance. Yes the stats from the previous games against the Yankees looks grim, but this is the playoffs, those stats mean nothing at this point. Yes everyone saw that they played horribly and blew their shot at division champs but they were not at full strength, one of their best pitchers was given time off to prepare for the playoffs. Verlander has been given a lot of time to rest and so far has done an excellent job. If they can take Game 2 then they have a very good chance of taking this. That is, if Rogers can get out of the slump he's been in.

As much as i hate to say it, the Tigers have no chance. They have been playing the worst baseball of any playoff team in the last month and could not beat the lowly Royals to win the division. Their morale and confidence must have taken a hit. Their pitching has been very strong heading into the postseason despite their losses. Their best team ERA by month was in the last month of the season. The problem is they are playoff inexperienced pitchers (exept Rogers, who hasnt pitched well in the playoffs). The Yanks have a bunch of savvy vets pitching and a guy with 18 wins pitching game 1, althought their bullpen is a little bit weaker (exept for rivera of course). Hitters have been struggling because of their reliance on the Home run ball but they dont even come close to matching the Yanks in that category. Neither team is an exeptional defensive playing team but since the Tigers are younger and more athletic in most positions I will give the edge to the Tigers.
Go TIGERS!!!!! ( even though you are severly mismatched)

The Yankees collectivly as a team hit 360 off Verlander, 340 off Robertson, 380 off Kenny Rogers, and 315 off Bonderman..... i saw that and just was like Holy Poop! The Detroit Starters have great GREAT stuff, and are all real good pitchers.. ACCEPT, it seems, against the Yankees, who happen to be who theyre playing.... Does detroit have a shot? sure, anyone can win, but, well, ummmm....it sure as hell dont look good for Detroit

It all depends on todays game. If the tigs win today, then I would say they have a pretty good chance. I am from michigan and I still say the yanks will take it in 4.
