my theory is that they want to show everyone how busy they are so that we think.. oh wow he is so hard working or wow he's gone shopping...

Because you don't have to do anything to start it - it automatically starts when you start your computer and if while you're busy you need some information from someone you can quickly get at them. And when you're done being busy you can check for all the messages you got while you were busy.

When they turn on their computers, the MSN automatically notifies other users who are on their address list. Does'nt mean to say they are sending messages to other people, just means their comp' is being used

I agree!

To be away from the computer and show busy is understandable...but responding to say you are too busy, is plain rude

I think t's because They are being mean to you. It happens to me quite offten. What they do is sign on maybe to talk to other friends and not to you. That's why I like Yahoo! so much it because you can be invisible to everyone and tell only certin ppl you're on.
